Microchip

No matter how careful you are, or how well trained your pet is, there is no way to guarantee they won’t get lost or separated from you.   In addition to a collar with a current ID tag, we strongly recommend microchipping your pet to give you the best chance of being identified and returned to you.

At Milestone, we use Home Again microchips as a safe and permanent way to identify your best friend.  These tiny devices are about the size and shape of a grain of rice, and can be easily implanted under the loose skin at the back of your pet’s neck. When a veterinarian or shelter uses a handheld scanner to check for a chip, it uses a low-frequency radio wave to transmit its permanent ID number.  The vet/shelter can then contact Home Again to obtain your contact information and get your pet safely home.

Your pet’s registration in the National Recovery Database is for life, but we offer a year of full membership with each microchip, providing extra services, including:

  • 24/7 Access to Lost Pet Specialists
  • Rapid Lost Pet Alerts
  • 24/7 Emergency Medical Hotline
  • Travel Assistance for Found Pets
  • Email newsletters with wellness and safety information

At the end of that year, you may renew through Home Again for a small annual fee, or drop the enhanced services.
